Starting from the academic year 2022/2023 a new full-time MA study programme in the field of African Studies is offered by the Chair of African Languages and Cultures of Warsaw University.

The new MA programme in African Studies focuses on cultural, linguistic, religious and social issues of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The programme, conducted in English, is interdisciplinary in nature. It combines various aspects of African studies (especially with regard to cultural, social, historical and literary aspects) with studying one of the most important contact languages of the continent – Swahili. The emphasis is on contemporary Africa.
Our Master’s degree programme is intended for students that have already completed their undergraduate studies but still wish to continue developing their academic skills. The programme comprises two years of full-time study. To graduate, students must complete a thesis that demonstrates sound knowledge of the field and research competency.
The programme is free for Polish as well as international students.

Katedra JÄ?zyków i Kultur Afryki prowadzi nabór na studia I i II stopnia.
Dzienne studia zawodowe pierwszego stopnia (3-letnie, licencjackie) z mo??liwo??ciÄ? kontynuowania nauki na studiach magisterskich. Program studiów obejmuje rotacyjnie specjalizacjÄ? w zakresie jÄ?zyka hausa (jÄ?zyk u??ywany w Nigerii i Nigrze), amharskiego (jÄ?zyk u??ywany w Etiopii) lub suahili (jÄ?zyk u??ywany w Afryce Wschodniej). Od pierwszego roku studiów studenci rozpoczynajÄ? tak??e naukÄ? drugiego jÄ?zyka afryka??skiego.

W roku akademickim 2022/2023 Katedra uruchamia nowy program dziennych studiów II stopnia “African Studies” w jÄ?zyku angielskim. Program studiów ma charakter interdyscyplinarny – obejmuje szerokie spektrum wspó??czesnych zagadnie?? zwiÄ?zanych ze studiami afrykanistycznymi ze szczególnym uwzglÄ?dnieniem aspektów kulturowych, spo??ecznych, historycznych oraz literatur afryka??skich. Studia obejmujÄ? tak??e naukÄ? jÄ?zyka:
– suahili (w ramach kursu dwuletniego) na poziomie podstawowym albo
– amharskiego, hausa lub suahili na poziomie zaawansowanym (dla studentów po afrykanistycznych studiach licencjackich).
